Skip Counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s
Skip counting is a way to count faster! Instead of counting every single number one by one (1,2,3,4…), we jump forward by a bigger number. It helps us find patterns, count large groups of objects quickly, and is the very first step toward learning multiplication.
Skip Counting by 2s
When we skip count by 2s, we add 2 each time. You are basically skipping one number and saying the next.
Let's count by 2s: 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20
Tip: If you start at 2, all the numbers will end in 0,2,4,6, or 8. These are called even numbers!
Skip Counting by 5s
When we skip count by 5s, we add 5 each time. Think about counting the fingers on your hands or toes on your feet!
Let's count by 5s: 5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40
Tip: Notice the pattern? Every number ends in either a 5 or a 0.
Skip Counting by 10s
Skip counting by 10s is one of the easiest and most fun ways to count. We add 10 each time.
Let's count by 10s all the way to 100: 10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,100
Tip: Look closely at the numbers. The first digit goes up by 1 (like 1,2,3…), but there is always a 0 at the end!

- Count by 2s: 2,4,6,…,… (Answers: 8,10)
- Count by 5s: 15,20,25,…,… (Answers: 30,35)
